NBC Universal at CES 2008

Consumers, Content, Connection – It All Happens Here.
January 2008

For the first time, NBC Universal was a major component at the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV. NBC Universal was the first-ever Official Broadcast Partner for CES. The media and entertainment giant positioned its involvement at CES 2008 with the slogan; “Consumers, Content, Connection – It All Happens Here.” The inaugural kick-off presented NBC Universal big and bold with a gorgeous booth complete with live broadcasting stages, blogger station, interactive content and download kiosks. USB key drives from SanDisk were given to attendees enabling them to browse and download their favorite NBC Universal. Talent gracing the booth included NBC Nightly News’ Brian Williams, The Today Show’s Al Roker, Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell and CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo just to name a few.

As part of their CES experience, NBC Universal created a custom website http://nbcuatces.com specifically for the event. The site featured detailed information about NBCU and their booth, as well as up-to-the-minute blog posts about the excitement at CES. NBCU hired CAM Design, a strategic graphic design consultancy, to help in creation of web graphics for the NBCUatCES website to drive traffic to its booth location. CAM worked with NBCU and their internal team to create the main page promo spot and news ticker for this site. Working on an aggressive timeline, NBCU and CAM completed design of the graphics for the NBCUatCES website just before the New Year.

Huge crowds swarmed the NBC Universal booth at CES 2008. According to NBC Universal's blog on the CES site, nearly ten thousand pieces of NBC Universal content were downloaded by attendees. Overall CES was a big success for NBCU and they are already planning on returning in 2009.

Arch City Simplicity

Recent Work

Deanna Kuhlmann-Leavitt
may very well be one of the most humble and talented designers I have ever met. From her start at Morava & Oliver to her transition as founder of Kuhlmann-Leavitt, Inc. (KLI) in St. Louis., Deanna has an excellent sense of typographic perfection, simplistic style in all work she is a part of, and a genuine personality to top it all. She has carried her skill sets to new and exciting applications in environmental design for Formica Corporation, designed award-winning identities for Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and created amazing Annual Reports for Ameristar Casinos and Arch Coal, Inc.

Recently, Deanna came to Columbus to speak at the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts January event. Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA) is a Columbus based professional organization for communicators in advertising and marketing. We were privileged to design the lobby graphics for this great evening of inspiration. Below are a few shots of the graphic displays that were present in the lobby area where cocktails were enjoyed prior to Deanna speaking (see images below).

The final designs formulated information about Deanna and KLI using abstracted arch and geometric structures. Three separate panels showcase
the speakers biography, organizational schedule for remaining year and the evening event details.
